A Celebration of Triumph and Courage
The Writers Guild Theatre was laden with supporters in honor of the premiere of “A Trilogy of Recovery” on Friday, September 28. The three films, Bed Ridden, Men in a Box, and Plan B, wittingly and accurately captured the spirit of recovering addicts.
The packed house featured an elegant reception, with attendees like Skyler Stone (Bed Ridden, Plan B, Fox’s Raising Hope), Tony Denison (TNT’s Major Crimes), David Marciano (Showtime’s Homeland), Madison Curtis (KarTV), Ralph Rieckermann (guitarist of The Scorpions), Eric West (CW’s Gossip Girl) and Owen Benjamin (TBS’s Sullivan & Son). The reception preceded the showing of the films, directed by Jonathan Heap and Lowell Cauffiel of Primary Purpose Productions, executively produced by Rika and Tony Broccoli, on behalf of The Dana and Albert Broccoli Charitable Fund, which financed Men in a Box and Plan B.
“Not a drop of food was left,” private chef Stacie Rauch, of the Personal Palette, said.
Following the reception and red carpet arrivals, Charlotte Ayanna (Training Day), the host for the evening, introduced the films featuring cast members Alan Tudyk (Suburgatory), Joel David Moore (Avatar), Jessica Cauffiel (Legally Blonde), Garrett Morris (2 Broke Girls), Daston Kalili (Bed Ridden, Men in a Box), Kurtwood Smith (Fox’s That 70’s Show), and John Michael Higgins (Happily Divorced).
Primary Purpose Productions, the film company that produced the films, is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit media company. The story lines of their films are created to help people recover from drug and alcohol problems and other self-destructive disorders and were recently featured in an article in The Hollywood Reporter: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/hollywood-non-profit-benefit-primary-purposes-productions-370312
Proceeds from the films benefitted The Midnight Mission, an organization that responds to community needs in order to provide services to the homeless community.
The Dana & Albert Broccoli Charitable Foundation supports the arts, children’s services, medicine and higher education.
