October 2nd, 2010 – The Al. Ringling Theatre (Baraboo, Wisconsin) hosted SING OUT FOR HAITI WITH LOVE – A concert to benefit the Parish of Sacre Couer in Thiotte, Haiti and the Haiti Medical Mission of Wisconsin.
The historic, palatial landmark, built in 1915 by Al. Ringling, “The World’s Greatest Showman,” has maintained its stature due to the restoration efforts of the community-based, not-for-profit group – The Al. Ringling Theatre Friends. Work is ongoing and the ART Friends are committed to raising funds for a full restoration and to bringing quality, live entertainment back to the theatre’s stage on a regular basis.
But what is truly remarkable about this community is the humanitarian outreach to help those in need.
On Saturday evening at 7:30PM, eight local Church Choirs united in song to raise money and awareness for the Haiti Medical Mission of Wisconsin, now in its Fifteenth Year and started by Dr. Maureen Murphy of Lake Delton, Wisconsin.
Dr. Murphy has worked closely with Father Louiders, whose Parish in Thiotte has become a shining example of what can be accomplished when the spirit of love and generosity lead the way. His leadership, supported by the efforts of the Mission and local Churches of Wisconsin, has been instrumental in raising the quality of healthcare in Thiotte and making it accessible to all those in need.
Father Louiders was in attendance on Saturday evening to give thanks in person and to encourage local communities to continue their humanitarian work, especially in light of the recent earthquake. “If all of our friends continue to care, things will get better.”
