Theodora Woolley Actress
It’s always great catching up with talented and inspirational performers- Actress Theodora Woolley is one them. We recently caught up with her and spoke to her about some of her inspirations and upcoming projects. Here is what she shared with us:
Please introduce yourself to the readers and how you first get into performing?
My name is Theodora, an actress from England! I’ve moved around a few times, but mainly between London, Suffolk and New York. I started performing straight away, modeling from when I was three years old (companies like Splenda, T-mobile, Disney) and thought dressing up and playing on cool sets with new friends, sometimes even animals is what everyone did on the weekends!
What inspired you to get into this industry?
I was part of all the drama groups at school and in our local village. I just knew it was something I enjoyed and that I was good at.
What kind of training have you had, if any?
I moved back to London after high school and did workshops at RADA and the Actors Center. Then packed a bag and decided to move to New York, where I was accepted into the Stella Adler Studio of Acting! I was challenged in every way; emotionally, mentally, physically. I learned love and respect for the actual craft of acting. To this day, I still take classes at the Michael Howard studio; there is always more to learn and be inspired by. Some of the best performances I’ve seen are scenes between my closest friends in a little black box studio in Chelsea.
What has been your favorite role to play so far?
Gwendolen in The Importance of Being Earnest. A combination of the role, the play, the cast and our wonderful, kind, patient director; Tom Oppenheim. It was a rare gift to delve into the brilliant wit of Oscar Wilde.
What has been one of your biggest achievements in your career so far?
Moving to New York, completing Stella Adler and now being rewarded by an amazing management and agency (Authentic Management and Innovative Artists) getting to play fascinating, strong, brave women in TV and film. I am so thankful and proud of every step!
What projects do you have coming up?
I’m part of NBC’s new online ‘playground’ competition as Brandi in the hilarious show ‘Broker’. I’m also excited for the independent films I’ve been working on to be released.
Who would you most love to work with?
Right now I’d love to work with Lea Seydoux. I find her totally captivating on screen and would probably end up totally hypnotized by her if we worked together!
What are your plans for the future?
That’s the best part of this job; you never know what’s around the corner. You just follow what inspires you and then hopefully you’ll do your best work…
What is your advice to aspiring performers?
Say yes. I had that on a poster growing up. My first audition for Person of Interest was for a Russian character. I had never even tried the accent before, but I went anyway and the next day I was called in for Brooks! So be brave, breathe and smile!
