Actor Tommy Lubbe

We recently spoke with popular South African actor and soon to be Hollywood resident, Tommy Lubbe. It was great to be able to find out his thoughts on the world of acting, his upcoming projects and plans for the future. Here is what he had to say:
Please introduce yourself to the readers and how and when did you first get into performing and what inspired you to get into this industry?
Hello world! My name is Tommy Lubbe. My best friend is my identical twin brother. We have this remarkable connection to understand each other’s feelings and emotions without saying a word. When we would play together as kids we created different little stories and acted out all the characters that we imagined. I guess that’s when I knew I wanted to be an actor.
What kind of training have you had, if any?
After school, I moved to Italy where I stayed for 7 years and made friends with Italian’s that were part of the TV Industry in Milan. I always had the firm belief that I was going to be at my happiest if I could be the artist that will be able to express all of my inner locked emotions and feelings. Returning to South Africa, I applied at The Performance Art and Lifestyle Institute where I studied acting for 3 more years.

What has been one of your favorite roles to play so far?
Great question! I have played in a theatrical piece as a Psychiatrist that was actually more mentally disturbed than his patients. This play was called “Nag van Legio” in my own mother tongue, Afrikaans.
What has been one of the biggest achievements of your career so far?
I have been really fortunate to get chosen out of so many other candidates for several TV commercials because of my marketable looks which has turned out well with the viewers and the public.
What projects do you have coming up?
I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to come to Los Angeles and work with renowned and talented Director Ryan Adams to work on an Alfred Hitchcock style film. I am extremely thrilled about this upcoming project and to be working with some of the best in the entertainment world.
Who would you most like to act alongside or collaborate with in the acting world?
I met Charlize Theron who is also a fellow South African. However, for me, it would be a privilege to meet Tom Cruise, as he has phenomenal acting skills that allow him to show so much depth in each character he portrays.
What are your plans for the future?
To come to LA and continue adding a body of work worthy of Hollywood and working with such people like Ryan Adams. My true dream is my passion for the arts! Also in the end, a philanthropist so I can hopefully, make a positive change which will impact those in need.
What is your best piece of advice to aspiring performers?
There is nothing on earth you cannot achieve if you truly believe in yourself! Love yourself and if you want something bad enough and it makes you happy, never give up striving for it till you have achieved it!
