Many times when you glance over someone’s resumé you toss it aside without thinking too much of it. In fact, if you’re in the habit of looking at multiple resumés each day, you may not even read any of them all the way through. You simply spot-read them, looking and hoping for some highlights that catch your eye and make you want to finish reading the whole thing.
When I started reading Badr Farha’s CV I knew almost instantly that I wasn’t going to put it down until I got to the very end. I didn’t know then, however, that when I would reach the end I would want more or that I would read it voraciously, with great interest like a well-written novel. “Lucky me,” I thought, as I read about this obviously talented Art Director, filmmaker and very deep thinker’s life on the computer screen. Of course, when I looked at his photo, which was on his IMDB page, his sincere and thoughtful face confirmed that Badr is a rare and highly intelligent human being who will ultimately win all the film awards and praise there are to win on this planet.
Badr’s passion for life and for movies is mirrored in every sentence he has written on his resumé. There is also a straightforwardness and humbleness in his outlook that is quite refreshing to anyone who reads CVs or who interacts with great numbers of people on a regular basis.
Badr started out in the business world and got his first university degree in Business Administration. After that he worked for several well-known international corporations, including a very well known advertising agency. These are all interesting pieces of the puzzle called Badr, but the really interesting parts came toward the end of his resume.
Apparently, Badr had always been interested in movies and in narrative storytelling. Once he realized that he wasn’t going to be fully satisfied in the rather dry business world he gave it up, moved to Los Angeles, got a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Filmmaking and went out and started working on films. Three of the films he worked on were invited to participate in the Cannes Film Festival Court Metrage. That is incredible! Who else has done that? He was Art Director on When Negatives Collide and the production Designer on More Than Words. The third film, The Last Conversation, was written and directed by Badr and has gotten fantastic reviews and garnered a great deal of attention for this thoughtful filmmaker. We can’t wait to see what Badr is going to do next.
